'Aim to instigate a POSITIVE CHANGE from within the fashion industry

through recycling & waste management!'

Fast SHOCKING FACTS!!

More than 1 million tonnes of TEXTILE WASTE ends up in landfill annually, half

of which is re usable

Uk consumed 2 million tonnes of clothes , or £23Bn anually!!

It was such a shock on thursday afternoon to read on a facebook status to see "Alexander Mc Queen has committed suicide" from the boy who changes his status every minute of the day, not sure whether or not it was a joke so i hit google - and what a shock it was to see the headlines. I then Messaged an old friend who's idol was McQueen, I guess one could say Dominic educated me on Mcqueen & his legacy and we would spend more than a few visits to dribble over the scarfs & the dresses id never have.
He Replied to say that he found out, as he was walking out of the store.
I think with things like this - people love to jump on the bandwagon, so instead of doing that I'm going to be honest & say he wasn't my favorite designer, but i did like his designs & will remember him for his shows - he managed to take a viewer & capture them.
His Catwalk shows were original & dramatic productions, he went above & beyond making his models more than a hanger.
He was quoted saying that he doesn't follow trends but creates them & i think that is what the fashion industry will miss.
In fridays Evening Standard I read an Article Issy,Lee and me: how I came to see the demons behind the genius of McQueen. Written by Vassi Chamberlain.
This article was a really good read, because not really knowing much about the designer as a person, other than that of him being found by Isabella blow a true icon of london fashion,
I didn't know much.
This article reveals, something that I have been thinking of too - "when in life will we feel truely satisfied."
Chamberlain describes McQueen as a man, who never really knew how to deal with his success, unlike his peers he was not one to glorify himself in the fame. He in many ways found it to be a burden.
Today we all want fame, we may deny it - but we all thrive to be known for something, there is a sense that when we are - that we will then feel satisfied..
But will we..
McQueen was at his hight of success, but he was still lost.
